Pocklington School’s renowned emphasis on pastoral care as part of an individually focused education ensures pupils feel valued and grow in confidence. Lasting friendships blossom in our outstanding boarding houses that create a home from home for all our boarders and through the many co-curricular pursuits, which take place every day.
We are immensely proud of our heritage at Pocklington and highly ambitious for our future, with a clear focus on innovation underpinned by our core aims, values and practice.
We believe in encouraging pupils to seize opportunities from the broad range of activities on offer. These help to form the bedrock of our young Pocklingtonians’ character and grow that vital quality of confidence.
Our sense of community and care for each other is tangible. This is no more evident than in our outstanding boarding provision. The values of courage, truth and trust drive all that we do, ensuring that our pupils leave with the character and skills required for life-long learning, alongside a deep sense of social responsibility and the ability to shape their own future.

Independent thought is prized
Right through from Prep School, where the Curiosity Project curriculum enables children to expand their critical thinking skills through structured and creative enquiry, to the Sixth Form, where independent thought is prized, our pupils are encouraged to be resilient, resourceful learners. To support the School’s strategic goal of further improving academic performance, increasing pupils’ independence and meeting the needs of modern family life, pupils engage in a 5-day working week, Monday to Friday. Saturdays are reserved for sports fixtures, and boarders enjoy a full weekend programme of activities and trips.
