Claremont is a friendly, unstuffy, ‘All through’ school, with a relaxed but purposeful atmosphere. Educating over 650 students, the school is set across two wonderful sites with the Prep and Nursery located in St Leonards in over 100 acres of glorious playing fields and woodlands, and the Senior School further north in the pretty village of Bodiam, just a short walk from its famous castle.

The Prep School was founded in 1925 and attracts children from across East Sussex and Kent, and more recently, families looking to move out of London. The same is true of our Senior School where the majority of our Year 8 students go on to study. Our unique, Year 6-11 curriculum further enhances a dynamic  ‘Through School’ student experience in which we are able to deliver a continuity of educational ethos as well as a happy, seamless transition to senior school when the time comes. Many parents also enjoy the convenience of having older and younger siblings at the same place and as children move up through the school, they (and their parents) do so in established friendship groups.

Since it was founded in 2011, the Senior School has quickly grown into an ambitious and dynamic centre of learning, with a notable emphasis on Creativity and student-led initiatives. The work coming out of the Performing Arts Centre is truly remarkable and 89% of students access their first choice of university. In October 2021, Claremont was named Independent School of the Year for the Performing Arts. In the same year Claremont Boarding was judged by Ofsted to be ‘Outstanding’. The school itself has been judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in the previous three consecutive inspections.
