A 14-year-old Taunton School student has claimed first place in the Boscombe Beach “Salty Dog Long Swim” beating 150 competitors, including many adults.

Year 9 student Ollie Heard swam the 3.8km race on the Dorset coast recently winning the race in just 53.38 minutes.

He was the youngest swimmer by far and said “It was the hardest race I have done so far and I was over the moon to have won it overall.”

At Taunton School Ollie has had the opportunity to take part in many open water competitions including the Exmoor Open Water swim, Jersey circumnavigation swim and Solent swim to name a few. Ollie Heard regularly tops the leaderboard.
