Hereford Cathedral School is one of the oldest schools in the country, located in the beautiful surroundings of a Cathedral Close. A happy, inclusive school with a national reputation for music, sport, and academic achievement, we help our pupils set their sights high and feel valued for who they are. We look forward to meeting you soon.
Paul Smith, Headmaster
With small class sizes, specialist teaching staff and strong pastoral care, every pupil is treated as an individual. Our curriculum is well-planned, wide-ranging and enriching. Its balance and focus on individual development helps us to stimulate enquiring minds, establish vital skills and spark passions for life.
Our results are excellent, with two thirds of all A-Level grades at A*/B in 2018 and over 90% of students winning places at their preferred university each year. But what sets us apart is that we offer far more than an academic education. Extra-curricular opportunities include drama, Combined Cadet Force, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and a whole host of clubs. Our music programme is one of the country’s finest, with internationally recognised choirs and specialised teaching, while our sports programme identifies talent and enables pupils to realise their potential.
Pupils boarding with us will enjoy being housed in a stunning Georgian boarding house with a warm, friendly atmosphere. Our experienced and dedicated House Parents and a House Tutor will ensure they feel safe and well looked after throughout their time with us.
We look forward to welcoming you to one of our open mornings, or alternatively we can arrange a private tour of the school at a time to suit you.
Pupils are an absolute delight – very supportive of one another, articulate and appreciative.
